কম্পিউটার ভাইরাস এক ধরনের বিপজ্জনক ও অনিষ্টকর প্রোগ্রাম। এটি স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে নির্বাহ, সংক্রমন ও সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি করে। ১৯৮৩ সালে Fred Cohen  সর্বপ্রথম কম্পিউটার ভাইরাস সম্পর্কে অবিহত হন এবং এর ব্যাখ্যা দেন। VIRUS  শব্দের পূর্ণ অভিব্যক্তি Vital Information Resources Under Seize কয়েকটি উল্লেখযোগ্য ভাইরাস হল- AIDS,Bye Bye, Bad Boy,Cindrella, CIH, ILove You, Kurnikova  এটি এমন একটি সফটওয়্যার প্রোগ্রামিং বা যা কম্পিউটারে সংরক্ষিত ফাইল ও ডিস্ক এর আভ্যন্তরীণ পদ্ধতিকে নষ্ট করে দেয়। ফ্লপি ডিস্ক বা ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে এটি ছড়ায়।
Anti Virus"
এটি একটি প্রোগ্রাম যা কম্পিউটার ভাইরাসকে চিহ্নিত করে, দূরীভূত করে এবং কম্পিউটার সিস্টেমকে ভাইরাস প্রতিরোধী করে তোলে।
সি আই এইচ ভাইরাস:
CIH  মাদার অব অল ভাইরাস বলা হয়। এটি হার্ডস্কি ও ফ্লাশ বায়োস উভয় ডিভাইসকেই অচল করে দেয়। এ ভাইরাস EXE  ফাইলে ইফেক্ট করার মাধ্যমে বিস্তার লাভ করে তবে নির্দিষ্ট কিছু টিগারিং তারিখে ভয়ঙ্কর রূপ লাভ করে। ১৯৮৬ সালের ২৬ এপ্রিল এ ভাইরাস আঘাত করেছিল একবার, যার ফল চেরনোবিলে মর্মান্তিক তেজস্ক্রিয় ঘটনা ঘটেছিল এজন্য এ তারিখে আঘাতকারী CIH কে চেরনোবিল ভাইরাস বলে।
