Syed Mainul Hossain was posthumously awarded the Independence Day Award, Bangladesh's highest civilian honor, in 2020 for his exceptional contributions to architecture. He is best known for designing the National Martyrs' Memorial at Savar, which symbolizes the nation's respect for the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War.
